In a vibrant celebration of international cultural exchange, Bihar Museum is set to host the renowned Kazakh dance ensemble 'Tumar' on October 4, 2025, at 5 PM. The performance is part of the 9th India International Folk Festival, organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under the Ministry of External Affairs.

This marks the first visit of the 12-member all-girls troupe from Kazakhstan to Bihar, where they will showcase their traditional dance forms in the museum's amphitheatre as part of the ongoing Biennale. The group will also perform in other parts of India, including neighboring Jharkhand, under the aegis of ICCR's Regional Office in Patna.
The event will be graced by Director General of Bihar Museum, Shri Anjani Kumar Singh, and ICCR Patna Regional Director, Smt. Swadha Rizvi (IFS).
"The visit of the Kazakh cultural group will serve to promote cultural exchange between the rich cultural heritage of Kazakhstan and Bihar, thereby strengthening bilateral cultural relations and people-to-people ties between India and Kazakhstan," said Smt. Rizvi.
Founded in September 2018 and led by Ms. Akereke Kairatovna Musalimova, the 'Tumar' ensemble is named after a traditional Kazakh talisman believed to ward off evil. The group has earned acclaim for its dedication to preserving and promoting Kazakh dance traditions while blending them with modern choreographic elements.
Each performance by 'Tumar' is a theatrical experience-rich in emotion, visual storytelling, and cultural symbolism. Their choreography is known for its technical precision, expressive movements, and authentic costumes that reflect the soul of Kazakh heritage.
Over the years, 'Tumar' has won numerous awards and grand prix titles at international festivals and competitions across Kazakhstan, Georgia, Turkey, Dubai, and beyond. Highlights include:
- Super Grand Prix at "Energy of Stars" (2023)
- Multiple Grand Prix at "Golden Fleece" in Batumi, Georgia (2024)
- Best Choreographic Production for "Cats and Mouse" at "Megapolis.kz" (2025)
